Use Cases

Real industrial tasks where humanoid robotics delivers measurable impact from day one.

Current Use Cases

Three Pilot Projects in Progress

These three applications are currently being implemented with industrial partners — from cardboard packaging to bin picking and CNC machine tending.

Pilot Project — Packaging

Cardboard Folding

Special challenge: handling paper

Humanoid robot folding cardboard packaging in production

The pilot project covers the development, integration and validation of a humanoid robot system for automated operation of a cardboard packaging line under real production conditions.

  • Picking up and positioning the blanks — receiving the die-cut cardboard and aligning it for the packaging process
  • Folding the cardboard — automatically erecting and folding the flat blanks into the packaging shape
  • Loading products — precise placement of products in the correct position and orientation
  • Closing the cartons — bringing together and closing the lids and flaps
  • Strapping — securing the package for transport safety and stability
  • Placement on the roller conveyor — handover of the finished cartons

Bin Picking

Special challenge: unsorted parts in KLT containers

The humanoid robot takes on the following tasks in particular:

  • Removal and feeding of components to machines

    • Removal of workpieces from bulk containers (bin picking)
    • Removal of workpieces from machines or staging areas
    • Alignment and positioning of workpieces for further processing
    • Ensuring the correct position and orientation of workpieces
  • Placement & feeding

    • Placement of workpieces into defined containers, trays or storage positions
    • Structured sorting and storage according to specification
    • Positioning and insertion of workpieces into machines or fixtures
    • Preparation of workpieces for downstream processing
  • Transport & material flow

    • Transport of workpieces between machines, stations and buffer areas
    • Movement of workpieces and containers within the shop floor
  • Structured placement and storage of workpieces

    • Placement of workpieces into defined containers, trays or storage positions
    • Structured sorting and storage according to specification
    • Ensuring the correct position and orientation of workpieces

Pilot Project — Machining

CNC Machine Tending

Special challenge: machine availability around the clock

Humanoid robot tending a CNC machine

The robot takes over loading and unloading of CNC mills: raw and finished parts are reliably fed in and removed — including night and weekend shifts.
